COMMITTEES AND GROUPS
What makes being part of Dignity/Boston so fun and rewarding is
that there are so many opportunities for someone to get involved
in our community. When you join one of our groups or committees,
you get the chance to make a difference in the GLBT community of
Boston and meet interesting people. You can contact the groups or

Listed below are some committees and groups that you can join.
Friday Night Supper Program
Dignity/Boston and the Arlington Street Church (ASC) sponsor this
weekly meal program for hungry and homeless people in Boston. Meals
are prepared every Thursday and served every Friday year round at
ASC. Volunteers are needed to cook, serve meals, and help in community
outreach.
Liturgy Committee
This committee services the Chapter by preparing the Sunday liturgies
and special liturgical celebrations that enhance the spiritual life
of the community. There are volunteer needs for Lectors and Eucharistic
Ministers.
Music Ministry
This group provides music for all liturgical events. There are
volunteer needs for accompanists (piano, organ, guitar), instrumentalists,
singers, liturgical dancers. All are welcome to join. You need not
read music.
Women's Spirituality Group
This group of female Dignity/Boston members meets regularly for prayer, spiritual discussion, support and socializing.
Spiritual Life Ministry
This group has two areas of concern:

To create an ongoing diverse and enriching opportunity to
deepen the spiritual lives of the membership from our unique
perspective as GLBT Christians. This ministry prepares community
retreats for men and women and sponsors a Lenten and Advent
evenings of discussion. Volunteers are needed for program planning
and retreat planning.

To spearhead Dignity's work in battling poverty, homophobia,
AIDS, breast cancer, violence and other social ills. Some activities
include the annual AIDS walk and Breast Cancer walk.
Defenders
This committee brings together men and women who want to express
and experience the aspects of leather and spirituality. The committee
serves as outreach to the Boston leather community and provides
social and religious activities for them.
Hospitality
This committee welcomes and greets visitors as they enter St. John's
for Sunday liturgy. The committee provides information to new and
prospective members about Dignity/Boston and Dignity/USA. Volunteers
are needed to serve as greeters at the church door and to conduct
brief orientation sessions for inquiring visitors after Sunday liturgy.
Men's Spirituality Group
This group of male Dignity/Boston members meets weekly for prayer,
spiritual discussion, support and socializing. Activities include
an annual retreat.
Peace and Justice
Committee that spearheads Dignity's work in battling poverty, homphobia,
AIDS, violence, and other social ills. This committee channels Dignity's
efforts to fight breast caner, AIDS and supports people with HIV/AIDS
through education, charitable donations and activism. Membership
in Interfaith IADS coalition and the Governor's Commission on Gay
and Lesbian Youth.
Interfaith Coalition
This group is responsible for coordinating the annual Interfaith
Pride Service and various other occasional ecumenical experiences.
Transgendered / Transsexual Liaison
The liaison serves as an outreach to the Transgendered / Transsexual
community. The liaison seeks to bring more Transgendered / Transsexual
people into Dignity, especially those with families. There is also
an effort to outreach to the female to male Transgendered/Transsexual
community.
The Next Generation
This group of 20-30 something young adults plans spiritual, social,
and community service activities. All are welcome! Please join us.
Social Committee
This group plans regular social activities for the Dignity/Boston community throughout the year. Events include, BBQ’s, Movie Nights and more!
